| British Guyana I must stress that this has nothing to do with my fishing/outfitting company and is completely a non-profit making item. This is just to give anyone an chance to do and see something else in the fishing world from the Guinea Pig stage. We need another two adventure-seeking anglers to join us and make up our team of 8. A good friend of mine from Brazil was brought up in British Guyana and he lived and worked with the Wai-wai Indians there for many years. He contacted me to see if I can help in mounting a fishing expedition in early - mid February next year, way into the depths of the Guyana jungle on the upper reaches of the Essequibo and Kassikaitu Rivers, which is still included as part of the Northern Amazon Drainage system. If this works we will offer it in future as a package deal on our own site, but for now, this is only exploratory and experimental. He wanted me to offer this trip to anyone interested in joining the two of us and a few other like-minded adrenaline anglers into the remote wilds (so far we have 6 and want a max. of 8 of us), literally into another world, 100s of miles away and from anything anyone is used to back home! We would be living and working with the local Wai-wai Indians all the way and these guys know their waters like the back of their hands. Afetr all, it is their back garden and their fishing rigs are bows and arrows and spears!, Having fished the Brazilian southern side of the Guyana Shield for many years, I know most of the species and types of water that we will encounter on the opposite northern side of this mountain range. There are so many fish species here to catch, from a variety of huge Catfish, fruit and nut-eating Pirapintinga and Pacu (including the very rare, red or pink Pacu) and for the dedicated lure angler, the most aggressive preditors in freshwater, the ugly prehistoric Aimara or Wolf Fish, Tiger Surubim Cats, Vampire fish or Payara, strong Peacock Bass, the Pike-like Bicuda, Giant Black Piranha, Pescada or Silver Drum and the infamous Matrincha, along with many other amazing sport fish. All this in roaring white water, rocks, braids and cascades, or slow stretches and deep holes. This is such a varied watershed and I cannot wait to try it all out! This trip will involve alot of travelling, photographic opportunites of the plentiful wildlife, flora and fauna, sights and of course, FISH and more FISH! This is not a trip for the weak of mind, body or soul and will be tiring but extremely exciting at the same time. We will camp in tents and blow-up mattresses (or hammocks whoever wants to) and will be reasonably comfortable being so far away from anywhere else. I will have an idea of our costs soon, (which will involve internal flights, transfers, hotels, all food, drinks, guiding and boats, petrol etc. while on the river), but if anyone fancies a jaunt to the jungle, or knows anyone who would, or just wants to know more, please email me and I will reply to you. Again, this is just helping a mate out and hoping some of you will join us.
