I wanted to ask you, do these little Chile towns have Internet cafes, or coffee shops with wireless. When I'm down there fishing and with laptop, how do I show the world them there fish :) I'm hoping I can have lunch somewhere or a few drinks and blog? Gracias Seņor... |

Me comenzar en Brasil ... in November... So probably in San Martin in December... and I'll get to Coyhaique January sometime. I'm trying to setup a blog site that I can use to track the journey on Google Earth... as soon as I have than done, I'll post the link here... I'm hiking and fishing all of South America... so its not firm, if I like a spot, I stay for a while... When I have the site working... perhaps you want to indicate some of the cool fishing spots in your area... idea is when its done, its a cool map of Lugares de pesca South America. Unfortunately, I tried here, but cant attach KMZ files in this forum... so I have to link out to another forum ![]() BTW... your area looks like heaven on earth... just a little cold, so its as far south as I go... then I start going north again... When I get to South America I'll get a cell number going and so can chat to people... I'll stick it on the site as well... Saludos... ![]() |

You know, I almost gave up on Chile at one stage... The thing that's missing in Chile is the people... you just see hotels on the web... What I was looking for and just couldn't find, was village hotels... This is our village hotel... come meet the people and fiesta... and by the way, the rivers are fantastic, you can hike and fish in nature and get the hell away from commercial enterprises... freedom! Chile feels like you walking into Goldman Sachs... ha ha In the beginning, I wasn't going to hike... but I decided to kit out with a house on my back... because it feels like you about to stay in a bank... This internet is full of scams so it terrifies people... one crowd wanted to charge me, to tell me about their accommodation... I said to the guy... tell me the program, show me the itinerary, and then I'll pay a deposit... no he said, you first pay 75 dollars and then we tell you what we got... so, house on my back and I'm using the internet to meet people as I go... Anyway... just thought I'd give you an outsiders perspective... I got to tell you... Best holiday I ever had was a place in Mauritius called La Pirogue... You paid your money and then it was just a series of pleasant surprises. I want to ski, no problem sir, we'll get the boat (free). I wanted to scuba dive... sir, you don't have a license, no problem, we'll train you for a day and then we'll take you out and... yes, free. I wanted to para glide... no problem sir... and you guessed it, free. Sure its an expensive hotel, but what a hotel... Now, my worse holiday was in Maldives and I'm sure the guy that ran the place was Hitlers cousin... I want to wind surf... no sir you need to do a course first... it costs and it takes a day... but I can wind surf... no sir we have rules. I want to scuba dive... no sir, that's a one month course... Ok... let me take that hobby cat... no that's a 2 day course. That island was a prison... I hated the place... Don't have to guess which hotel is always full... Chile gives me that Maldives feeling... so its a house on my back... Anyway... so far you sound like the most normal Chilean I've met... ha ha So warm up that kettle, I will stop by :) |
