Re: Rio Simpson Chile fly fishing trouts

Well....seems like your experience down there is totally diferent than the rest 99% of the turists.
I meet many people from all over the world and they love to come back always.Friends from Canada,Usa mostly bougth places and built their houses to live,at least during the summer.....
Prices become high when the tourism become profitable..now,depend if you have contacts and friends.
My cousin is one of the most well know flyfishing guides.
English can be a problem .....

bye.
Rodrigo

Re: Rio Simpson Chile fly fishing trouts

Sí, por eso me aprendido español
Yo no creo que es la país, no estoy llegado allí todavía.

Its the internet that's the problem, try it, search for Chile hotels and you get stuck in some European travel agency, or in some scam artist running a racket.

That's what I'm saying... you don't get to the Chileans... I'm not there yet :)
Only reason I've met you... is because of a fishing board... ha ha

So you see what I'm doing, making myself as independent as possible, so when I get to a town, I can look around...

What I'm trying to say to you, is that because of these scam artists out there, there is only one way to really advertise now... its word of mouth and the person in your hotel is the future bill board...

You also right about the channel, which again I think is European travel agents sucking on Chile... 4000 dollars for a 5 day fishing trip, some of what I've seen, is absolutely insane.

Believe me I've tried asking questions like... OK I want to stay with you, but I'll be out on a river for 3 days... so what happens now, do I still have to pay a 1000 dollars a night... to which there is just no plan.

I'd be catching a trout that cost 1000 dollars, 30 kms away from the hotel... ha ha

So... this is why its a hiking fishing holiday...

Simply stated, I think there are two markets in Chile... and from the Internet, you cant get to the other market... the real Chileans.

You can manage it as you will...
You absolutely right, that's what it feels like on the internet, if you don't have a friend, or family in these South American countries... watch out, because the mafia boss on the web, living in Europe somewhere, might not even book the hotel...
I'm not critiquing you... I'm saying... Hay un problema Amigo...

I'll look you up when I get to coyhaique Rodrigo...
In all likely-hood, if I get this story board running... it will be a gang of fishing hikers :)

Saludos... Gracias

Re: Rio Simpson Chile fly fishing trouts

Yes: I would say you are right.Prices are very high. This happen because of the growing demanding interest for fishing in Coyhaique.
I was born in Coyhaique.I don´t know if you heard about the fishing guides deported about 3 or 4 years. They worked for about 10 years without permits,no paying taxes, they built a big infraestructure,lodge,vehicles,...using our lakes charging tons of money.
Now by law, guides have to pay taxes,so now only establish fishing co are there, with permits to work.
Many of the fishing guides from other countries, would say Usa (montana),and Canada used to work ilegally.now they can´t.
Is true about fishing 4 days for 5 grand.
As a local i know most of the fly fishing guides and their prices(not much difference with others),but they belong to the city, are chileans, know the best spots for fishing, many untachable places.
Cerro Castillo,is a great place for hiking,i always met some of them during returning trips passing by,they like a lot,and not need much money to go through the cerro castillo.
If you like we can start figuring out ways or paths upthere....

Bye......

Thumbs up Re: Rio Simpson Chile fly fishing trouts

Cerro Castillo is 500 miles South... I'm South African, if its below 20 C, its already cold... ha ha

After you, I go North... you are my South Pole :)

I'm African, we not like the los bebés pequeños europeo, walking up a river is no big deal...

We beat the los débiles Inglés niñas at everything, they espástico... tell your primo guide that he wont have to carry my bolsa... ha ha
Only people we cant beat are those damn New Zealanders... they just have to be cheating, yeah steroids I think :)

No... when I get to you, hopefully there's more than just me, then I'll hire your cousin to make a picnic lunch at a nice fishing spot for us... and you can come to, if you bring the girls and the beer :)

Then we just habla about Chile... climbing to the top of a freezing mountain, I'll let the loco New Zealanders do that :)

Then I'll spend a few nights at your village and move on...

Gracias... I think the way I'm traveling will be good for Chileans, I don't think they seeing much of this tourist money...

You can see what I'm up to here... http://elbobo.100free.com/

Re: Rio Simpson Chile fly fishing trouts

No se preocupe Rodrigo
Sólo estoy feliz de conocer un chileno

Deje su número de teléfono celular en este foro

Tenemos mucho de qué hablar.

I'll phone you when I'm 2 days away...
Then I'll also know how many of us there are... remember I will have traveled for almost 2 months before I get to you.

And I'm saying, I'd rather spend a day at the local river fishing and talking, than climb a mountain.

If there is vuelo sin motor del avión (gliding) in your area, this I would like to do. I can also para-glide, so maybe you have that?

I might say... take us up the river in a boat, and come back and fetch us in 3 days... I don't know now what I want to do, yet.

I need to hablar with the people :)
First thing I'll probably do when I get into town is sit in a coffee shop and talk to people for 2 hours...

We'll already have bought our fishing licenses when we cross over into Chile... and already have fished the rivers above you, and in Argentina.

I trying to tell you the South Africans are outdoor people, we have very good weather... so boating fishing swimming... we all do it, its not new :)

I have never ever snow skied... so if I haven't done that yet by the time I get to you, you can teach me that... we don't have snow.

I'll know when I get there... Gracias
