| Re: skate Skate? Is that common Skate? or one of the many other types of Ray out there, as they vary in their habitat and diet. Where are you looking to fish from? Shore or Boat? Essex or Scotland? I am sure we can help but a skate can meen many things. |

| Re: skate Hi, if you still need to know whats the best set up for skate fishing let me know mate. Boat only though, trace bait etc etc. Where you live i wouldnt have a baldy, but i do know the best set up. Paul. |

| Re: skate Ive just returned from a trip skate fishing in loch crinan the tackle i used was a 50lbs class rod A Shimano TLD 25 reel filled with 50lbs braid 250lbs nylon rubbing leader and a 250lbs nylon trace the hooks where mustard 3406 12/0 or 14/0 i had three skate one of about 40lbs the second (2419) one was 70/80 lbs and a good male fish of about 140lbs i also caught a Black mouthed dogfish all the skate where caught using makkie and lsd cocktails 1/2 dogfish & 2 makkie fillits bound together with bait cotton i hope to go back to crinan next year tightlines Alain |

| Re: skate Hi captain ive no idea of how to post pictures my mate did post a full report and pictures on the whitby forum beenn up to loch Crinan three times now and caught a total of 7 skate hope to go back in the next week or two then have a weeks holiday up there in october just like last year the best fish to come onto my boat is 210LBS that my mate rupert caught in the 4 day session we had after the skate tagging event (www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk) |
