Re: Wanted original daiwa 7hts

Hi there, i use the original 7hts for the last many years mate and they are a superb reel, if your looking to buy one or two i would suggest buy bran new, when they came out they cosy £160 new thats first rrp take a £ or 2. You can buy them now bran new £80. A lot of reel for little money. After each use clean and oil bearings, up to you though. Hope this helps. Paul. Awesome reel.

Re: Wanted original daiwa 7hts

Be carefull though, there are different grades of oil some make the reel go at normal speed but put yellow rocket into the bearings after cleaning them with lighter fuel and she is moving like fire, thats what i use. Another tip only use 1 break bloke the clear one and put her at brake 3. Do not cast with short dropper with this set up put dropper at 7-8 feet. There are faster oils out there they are for the field only. Never fish without at least 1 break block as some do. Paul.

Re: Wanted original daiwa 7hts

brake block, oil combinations can vary from caster to caster.........style , power, type of fishing-bait size all come into it......

the end caps arent really brakes they just centre the spool......a tiny bit of endfloat is desireable on all reels, they kinda last longer, well the bearings do

if you need end tension to get a cast away then either you need more blocks, heavier oil or a poor casting style is at fault

Re: Wanted original daiwa 7hts

I agree but, fly handle with finger and put into free spool with no brakes in and turn none handle side end cap you got it no brake now put in any brake or brakes but start with the clear one x1 remember your at the kitchen table not at the beach. Now do the same again and count to 5 and slowly turn none handle end cap and you will see what i mean. The end cap on the handle centres the spool not both. To do this tighten handle end cap and keep other end cap at o and slowly move it anticlockwise untill you feel slight movement ie left to right and not to much. B4 you start take off shochleader and put tape not cellotape and put around spool while in reel twice only. If totally new to multiplier get lessons or if not put in 2xred blocks. Tight lines to all. And for those in the know please im giving top tips years of experience and i will not take abuse. As i said these are for those who dont know. Paul.

Re: Wanted original daiwa 7hts

I 4got to mention this set up is for fishing not tournament casting on the field that is totally different and vice a versa more importantly tournament casting is not for fishing and if those who do do it my way you wont have any birdies. I do both and i cast with the best.

Re: Wanted original daiwa 7hts

The end caps arnt really brakes they are for centring the spool you say. Watch a video on casting and you will see during the cast the caster slow done the spool on the none handle end i say that bcause right hand left hand etc. The same goes on the beach. He does but you dont. Anyway i am chilled just annoyes me when some advice given cant swear is rubbish. I did suggest buy one bran new i bought one ysterday of a bloke who cant use one bran new for £60. Cuckoo apoligies mate. Mr bk17 Im a tad older than you and if you are going to give advice make sure you know what your talking about. I would rather fish than cast but if you cant cast you cant fish. Cuckoo I can sell you bran new one for £60 plus post £70 all in mate. Chill dude. Paul
