If you use a multiplier with a level wind and you find that your shock leader knot catches when casting and robbing your reel of energy, use a tapered shock leader. This is normally a 15-60lb leader with the 15lb end tied to your main line, therefore creating a much smaller knot.

Don't worry, the leader is long enough to wrap around your reel several times so that the 60lb line is in contact with the reel while casting.
