| For better hook-ups, hold the shank of the hook in one hand and with a pair of pliers grip the bend of the hook and bend this out to 45 degrees either to the left or right of the shank. That will give you about a 15-20 degree offset of the hook point and the shank when it returns after releasing the pliers. This definitely improves the chances of the fish self-hooking and in turn better hook up ratios. |
