Thumbs up Rig Storage

I used to wrap all my sea rigs around an old beer mat & keep them in a rig wallet. Problem was that beer mats get soggy & don't last long.
Then a local drunk decided to throw an estate agents sign in my front garden one night. Its made from a sort of lightweight box section plastic, a bit like corrugated cardboard. It's excellent for wrapping rigs around when cut into small rig wallet size squares.
It's light, Waterproof , rigid & you can store the hook points inside the hollow end section to stop them snagging. Just cut a small slot in the corners to secure the rig ends & round off the corners so they don't catch in the rig wallet pockets.

I,m not suggesting nicking estate agent signs though. Mind you they are a bit of an eyesore....

Re: Rig Storage

i used to be very disorganised and just build rigs as needed on the beach .
but as my rig designs got more complex i started useing rig wallets and building them beforehand, however i couldn't be bothered to build rigs for every conceivable circumstance and cart several wallets around all the time especially as the damp inevitably gets in and rots the hooks if held in stock for a while.
so now i've often got a couple of clipped down rigs compleated with hooks/snoods, but carry a stock of rig bodys, ready built , for flappers and pulley rigs.
and add hooks/snoods on the beach depending on bait size or target fish on the day as , in the past , i often found that my pre built rigs were setup with the wrong hook size , or they'd corroded
also easier to uncoil from the wallet if theres no snoods attached.

works for me

Re: Rig Storage

Hi all,

For a supply of plastic wallets, just ask your bank for some money bags, they are free.

Cheers

Drew

Re: Rig Storage

i used to use pipe insulation, get as thick as u can anr just wrap the rigs round it, no need to rig wallets, or tangles
stopped in the end, cant remember why, think its cause they took up more space, great way of keeping rigs though, thanks to mr marshal

To stop the damp effecting your hooks try popping in one of those little bags of silica gel you get in with your new trainers or new electrical gadgets!

Re: Rig Storage

I make my pulley rigs about four at a time. Cut about 6" of electrical trunking (the one with the lid that clips on). Take the lid off, place the nape of your hook over the end . Wrap the rig around the trunking lengthways and put the lid on....Job done.
