you only need the butt section to hold your reel on


best /fastest way of taking line off is a cordless drill and a piece of wood in the chuck /or a empty spool with a bolt through it

As long as on that first section there is atleast on eye to thread it through !
grip the line gently with your thumb and forefinger and try to keep the pressure even as you wind
