Re: wd 40

thinke the reason peaple yous it on fish baits is that wd40 brakes down oil!
hence that macky strip or dead bait is going to leak flavour fast and for a long time!
cant see it working on mostly water based baits like worms tho!

Re: wd 40

the oil caries the sent of the biat for longer wish sets a trial to the area of the bait found it works better on winter fish and when the fish are hard to fined

Re: wd 40

my opinion ,not that it means a great deal.
is if you are using shit/ gone off / rotton bait then it might help a little (but i still dont realy beleave in it ), but if you have good fresh bait then i would never entertain it.
iv seen lots of people using it and thay normaly catch less than me with good fresh bait, but i know some people sware by it . each to there own

Re: wd 40

M/N and G/W have got it right in my mind, a few years ago Sea Angler was raging on about the catches of anglers using pilchard oil as a bait additive.

So being keen I bought 1 gallon of oil, swim feeder, oats and shrimps, minced the shrimps added the oats and mixed with warm pilchard oil (it stinks) packed it into the swim feeders and then wrapped in foil placed them in fridge.

Saturday dawned and with four rods fishing the two nearest the wheelhouse
had the swim feeders, rigs being s/w on main line to trace baited with squid, blunt end two with just plain squid.

Result
doggies and pout to the blunt end wheelhouse nil,
it could be the sent trail...........?

I'd just stick togood bait.
