Re: Ways to catch Good luck, mullet are one of the cleverest and also the shyest fish.Great fight on light tackle tho,you can try a little bit of ground baiting to entice them to stay where you intend to fish,be careful not to scare them with loads of ground baiting.. ![]()

Re: Ways to catch Hi there are lots of ways to fish for these mullet and lots of em work so i may aswell tell the way i fish for em aswell.......first of all i use my quiver tip rod with fixed spool lined with 8lb line......use a lead of about 1/4oun long rig with my first hook about 2ft off the bottom then another one about 4ft up.....hook snoods normally 6lb and size 8 hooks! this rig is for my local river as the banks are quite steep so the water is deep right in close to the banks so no long casting is required as you catch most of the mullet under your rod tip so try casting up tide and let your rig trot along the bank keep your drag set......they go like a train once they are hooked!!! Bait wise i normally use kingsmill medium sliced white, have tried to use cheaper bread but it tend to only stay hooked for a short lengh of time as for the one i use it stays for a couple of casts, I take a small square of bread fold it round the hook and pinch it till its quite solid around the eye of the hook and the rest fluffs up around the point so the the mullet cant see the hook one bit.....as i think was said mullet are very clever and anything doesnt look right then your chances of them taking the bait is very limited! you could also try painting your hooks white to blend in with the bread as it would help hide it and there less chance of the sun reflecting or any light shineing off your hook For ground bait i only use bread crumb and it seems to do the job.....try not to over bait though as it does tend to spoil the fishing! anyway that is the way i fish my local river....hope it helps a little and good luck with mulleting! Ollie ps, once you have caught one your be hooked on em!!

Re: Ways to catch hi matt when i started using this method i used to place 2 shots on the line just above the hook, but i would get bites and no hookups.when i changed to just freelining i ifound that the bread would float untill it got soggy and then sink slowly and the bites came while the bait was sinking and the hookups were more sucsessful. the fresher the bread the better plugger ![]()

Re: Ways to catch hi matt, the first method there is no weight, the second the weight is in the float ie lead built into bottom of float attatched wit two stop knots 1 below 1on top sorry if i confused you plugger ![]()
