Ok here's a good one I discovered...... shockleader knot. After I lost the insert on the tip ring on two rods I thought to myself there has to be a better way to do this. I found a product used in Carp fishing..... its heat shrink tube..... what I did was cut a piece 2 cm's long and slipped it over the knot. Its low temp responsive so you only have to hold it in the steam of a boiling kettle. Problem fixed............. and you dont get that distinctive " snicking" sound as it passes through the tip ring. __________________ I dont catch em I feed em

Re: Shockleader tip nice idear, i use a tapered leader so the knot is so much smaller which also helps, but its more expencive __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: Shockleader tip excellent. - outta interest do you use a multiplier or fixed spool? this technique would be extremely beneficial for mutilplier users who suffer from spool slip during casting! the amount of times the leader knot has destroyed my thumb!!! lol __________________ South Wales Angling Guide - Shore Angling in South Wales

Re: Shockleader tip i used to use this along time ago. i find the best shrink tube was the stuff thats used for electrical wires. the 5mm that most people use for rig making is a little bit big and although it wont slide off the knot it sometimes leaves a small gap on the leader. it also stops any weed sticking to the knot. i found it would go through the level wind on a mutiplyer such as the 6500 however reels like the calcutta wernt so good. for anyone using this, try getting it from an electrical wholesalers. i got a 100m spool for a little over £7 last time. better than e-bay

Re: Shockleader tip The brand I bought is... Korda "shrink tube"..... cost me £1 for 8, 2" lengths which I then cut down into 3's. The internal diameter is 1.6 mm, but they did have thinner but I was concerned at it passing over the knot, but in reality I think I could go down to 1.2 mm. The point of this tube over electrical heat shrink is, it is low temp responsive, the steam from a kettle is sufficient to shrink it..... in my experience the electrical stuff needs higher temps, but I recognise that others may know differently. As for multiplier reels, I use fixed spool, I cannot get on with multipliers at all, Mrs Chaos said that she had difficulty with her multiplier and a heat shrunk leader knot.... I guess it depends on the type you use. __________________ I dont catch em I feed em
