New Fixed Spool Needed!!

Ok folks, first im gonna tell ya a little story and then I need some advice!

On loading my mate Pete’s car with my fishing gear the other day an unsecured rod that I had stood against the said vehicle, promptly fell over. I picked up the rods that had fallen and placed them inside the car. As Pete drove away, the arse end of the car rose slightly, followed by a strange crunching sound. Pete stopped the car and I jumped out…….Yep you got it…..I had left the butt section of my carp rod in the road! Okay Okay stop pi**ing yourselves! My reel was ruined I tell ya!

Im now looking for a replacement and its here I need ya help oh dear forum people.
I need a fix spool reel that I will use for spinning/float fishing for Macks, Bass and Pollack etc, so it will need to have substance. It will need to be suited in the first instance to sea fishing but I will want to be able to use it for occasional carp use but this would be rare.

One thing I have decided the reel is to have and that is a metal spool.

Price wise, I would like to keep below £35 if poss.

Please give me your ideas guys and please base what you recommend through personal use.

Kiwi.

Re: New Fixed Spool Needed!!

a bit careless with your gear mate. i can't talk though. i do things like that all the time. i got a recommendation for your next reel though, okuma does a bait runner reel called the undertaker with a metal spool for about 30 quid, is excellent value for money it comes with 2 spare spools (the spares are plastic), has 2 ballbearing, rear micro adjuster, balanced crank, metal spool lip for better casting distance, i think its built quality is good all round and well worth a try

i have three of them, they do for all my carp, pike and light sea work.

Ah right Kev, my old favourite Abu, strange that I hadn't considered a fixed spool from them.

Cheers.

Re: New Fixed Spool Needed!!

ive seen quite a few abu cardinals on ebay. i dont know why but i dont think of them when i think about fixed spool either, their multipliers are quality stuff but i dont think they put the same effort on promoting their fixed spooled reels.
and a correction on my previous post the undertaker is about £25, for £30 you can get the intercepter, basicly the same with more bearings and better clutch. i realised when it won the group test in this week's anglers mail.
