Lug Storage

I dig my own lugworm as i use it often but i find they can be difficult to keep!
i usually keep them in a flat tray with raised sides in about 2cm sea water
is this the best way to keep lug?
if not, anyone have suggestions?

Mark

Re: Lug Storage

It sounds a good way to me. Just inspect them often and discard any dead or blown ones and change the water regularly.

what do you mean by salt down? ive gutted lug before and wrapped them in newspaper for storage. you freeze when gutted and keep in plastic air tight bags because they really stink!

Re: Lug Storage

does the salt content effect the worms? and do you really still catch on them ?

Re: Lug Storage

Yup they work 100% , look heres mine i salted down last time

And here is a fish i caught on them

It works, seriously, in fact the salt solidifies the guts which makes them firmer and less prone to come off when you give the cast some welly. I use a baitneedle to put them on as they are so tough but once in the water, the salt washes away leaving a perfect worm on the hook
