hermit crabs

i have been told that the best way to get hermit crabs out of their shells is to hold a lighter under them

never tryed hermit for bait before but it should work

is there a specific way of collecting hermit crabs? (apart from at the tackle shop!!)
im interested in using them but have never had fresh hermits

A crab trap baited with stinking fish baits is the best way ......

maybe a stupid question but how would i make a crab trap? and how would i set it up ? might be good for the velvets too??

No need to bother making one ,you can buy them ,on the net for a few quid (less than a tenner) ,you`ll be suprised what you catch in them too ,all types of crab ,small fish ,prawns ,good fun really ..

I been told that you get a herman out of his shell by dropping him in some fresh (non salty) water, he will run out of his shell in a sec, great for windy days as well
