mate i have had so many boat rods, the 12lb class Ugly Stick, the Daiwa Kensaki super braid, i was chatting to steve ace from veals of bristol, and he recomended the fladen maxiums solid carbon 20to30lb class, (and mate what he dont know about rods is not worth knowing believe me) anyway got one last year and its the dogs b*****ks, matched with a diawa saltist reel, not cheap i know, but a lovley set up and a joy to fish with, tight lines Boo

and before anyone starts saying has it got the backbone, the answer is yes, iv had cod over 20lb on it.

Just one thing Welshicon.

Don't forget to save some money to buy your braid. Forget putting anything else on your real unless you are going to be fishing shallow water. 300m of braid will probably set you back about £20. I normally go for Berkley which is around £34 but I prefer that to some of the other braids out there.
