Can anyone help me?

I'm from Northern Ireland and trying to treat my dad to a days deep sea fishing as a Christmas present. All I can seem to find is either on the mainland or would involve paying a fortune to charter a boat for the day for just him. My dad used to do a bit of fishing in his spare time and he loves watching tv shows about deep sea fishing but he's by no means an expert and I'm not sure he even has any equipment anymore. I may be asking too much but any ideas or suggestions you can give me would be very much appreciated.

Hi dude, nice thought treating your dad. There is a chap called sean mckay from ballycastle and he is your man. Very experienced skipper and he fishes deep allright for big skate and spurdog. I dont have his number mate but if you go down to ballycastle marina or even better still phone ballycastle harbour master. He is always highly booked solid but worth a try. In summertime try portrush harbour plenty of good skippers for ray, spurdog, place, pollock etc. Hope that helps. Paul. Stud.

Re: Can anyone help me?

KJM, Boat charter for just one angler is only for those with deep pockets in the main. The average, depending on type of boat and type of fishing is from about £350 for the day, rising up to over £1000.

Most people prefer to book a place on a boat along with others.

This would be a great advantage, because usually you get a mix of experienced anglers and those not so. At this time of the year you may find yourself very limited as many skippers run their boats for three seasons only.

Howvwer, all is not lost. Many also do gift vouchers that can be given as presents and used later in the year. This would mean pretty much a double pressie. One when the person gets the gift, and then again when they actually use it.

Do yourself a favour, buy yourself one at the same time and make it a great day out with your Dad
