mackerel in the Canary Islands Hi all I hoping someone might be able to help me with a little problem. I live in Lanzarote (Canary Islands) and enjoy my fishing of course. We have plenty of mackerel in the sea but I'm unable to catch them using feathers, I've tried a few colours but nothing so I was hoping someone might be able to give me some hints / tips on what I could try in order to catch them. I've tried off both a boat and from shore with no such luck... any hints / tips? JP

Re: mackerel in the Canary Islands Hi, I've not tried tinsel traces yet, I'll put some on my shopping list next time I go shopping.. I just have to find somewhere to buy them in Lanzarote (lacking real good fishing shops over here). Any other suggestions as I would like to cover all angles? Cheers for the responce :)

Re: mackerel in the Canary Islands What we found when we fished offthe simmilar area about 15 years ago that very small white ribbon type lures worked well also as mentioned the tinsel lures.

Re: mackerel in the Canary Islands Depending on the weather really mate, i find silver tinsel works better on dull days and coloured on bright days. The best so far being blue tinsel. Try different depths when ur spinning. Mackeral tend to live up to 20ft or so down off the cliffs, so just mix it up a bit. Once u find something that works you will be laughing.

Re: mackerel in the Canary Islands You should try spinning for catching MACKEREL. The job of spinning is an easy one. You attach a snap swivel on the line then the lure to the end of that. Then you're ready to go. __________________ DicksSportingGoods discount
