Cast Nets

Hmm, this is a difficult one. I was attracted to cast netting by the many videos on youtube etc.

Bear in mind that this is supposed to be a bait catching system.

I have used my net three times, hoping for bait. All I have netted so far is Bass, Plaice, sandeel, Weever. and pike fry that I have been able to identify. Best was a half pound bass, but I don't count that as a recordable catch. (It was returned along with most others)

All my netting has been done from shore. I did hope to have chance to cast from a boat or two, but although all the skippers I have fished with have a cast net on board, none of them would let me cast mine

Mixed feeleings about cast netting right now. As a bait catching system, first class. If I was doing it to feed my family I'd be a bit worried the fish stocks may not last huh?
