Headlamps LED version for sea fishing at night

Headlamps LED version for sea fishing at night

These are fairly new to the market and have greatly improved with time

thanks Petzl for image

You wear the lamp around your head so were your eyes look so does the lamp

The difference between a conventual headlamp and a LED headlamp is the type of light that it uses

LED is short for light emitting diode ( if I remember correctly and spelt it right ) which are very low wattage lights , but emit a large amount of light for their size thus using a great deal less battery power

They are also alot light to wear on your head than the old heaver headlamps. Although I find you do not get the same level of light form a LED headlamp they are more than enough to fish with

There are many makes on the market ranging from £10.00 to £60.00 and its down to your budget on which one to go for

LED Headlamps come various colour LEDS from all white light / red light / a mixture of both and some also have a facility to have a blink light which saves on batteries

So any tips or questions on using LED headlamps please post below

spot on richard i use one of these ,the taktikka plus with the pivoting red lense, ithink it was about £35 and take 3 triple aaa batteries which i have not changed yet ,they say on the lowest setting you can get 400 hours from them, they have 4 different brighness settings plus the red light too ,and the whole light and strap can be held in a clenched fist (very small)....recomended

Picked up a five LED on eBay some time back for about a fiver. Good light from the leds and the beauty of it is that it is a pure white light. Colours do not change under it's beam.

Re: Headlamps LED version for sea fishing at night

you get what you pay for with these
general LED lights, you pay alot of money on 1 with 1 LED and you will get more light than from a cheap 1 with 5 LEDs, i brought 1 in germany a while back for about £30 and its alot better than any other 1s i have seen and it only has 1 bulb, but that is a torce not headlamp
they give out a nice light for working in withing about 5ft but any further than that any you need something else, go for a headlampp with both

Re: Headlamps LED version for sea fishing at night

Not LED but I converted an old PETZL some time ago,to a 50w halogen run off a 12v battery which sat neatly in a bum bag.(not car size by the way) it was like torquay united playing at home!!!... only trouble was it only lasted about 30min... a bit like Torquay United !!!lol
so I changed the bulb just the other day to a 10w halogen and I can go allnight now, funny thing is the strength of the light isnt that much less.
My neighbour got one of those LED lights from ebay, he payed £1 plus £5.00 p+p.
you can get the 12 led for about £3.
