is that supposed to be serious , melting line together .........no knot

Re: Shockleader – Fishing Line Part 2

shockleader is a must, i use 80lb shockleader if im useing 5oz as i do fishing pendulum and off the ground. Simple knot but very srong, never had snap off. Tie a half knot at end of shockleader wet it and pull tight then get your main line 15lb and tie behind knot aroung 7 times and back in at least 4 times. Sorted. Tight lines.Stud

Re: Shockleader – Fishing Line Part 2

Paddy2k7, whats spod fishing mate. Vorny albright knot is the best for tieing fly line to backing mate, but for shore fishing a bit thick going through eyes on rod. If it works dont fix it mate but give mine ago,it was shown to me 15years ago and its sronger than you think. I once snapped tip off rod when major weed showed its face, knot never buckled at shockleader super srong and it goea through eyes super smooth. Not a great fan of tapered leaders, snap offs. Tight lines guys.Stud.

Re: Shockleader – Fishing Line Part 2

No worries. From scratch. Take end off shockleader and put half knot, then with your main line, hold knot with left hand at shockleader if your right handed and with right hand just go around shockleader after knot 7 times you now should have about 4-5 inches of a tag end in main line left, bring tag end 2wards knot you should now have a loop and just go back in again 4 times, hold tag end wet it all with spit, and gently pull main line with left hand and tag end with righthand thumb and forefinger. Trim off the stub at knot on main line and shockleader not to short just leave a tiny stub as you would after tieing a hook on your snood. The whole idea around this knot is your main line pushes against the half knot, not a full knot to bulky, and the more pressure the tighter the half knot on the shockleader becomes. I have pulled skate with this simple knot super strong. 50lb shockleader is ok for gentle plucks vorny mate but any power casting on the shore with 5-6oz and over plus baits 80lb shockleader safety 1st. Leads can kill. Knot is bullet proof when tied correctly so practice knot at home 1st a few times and give both ends a real good tug. Tight lines. Stud.

Re: Shockleader – Fishing Line Part 2

Vorny mate this knot is only for tieing thinner mainline to thicker ie
shockleader ie 15lb to shockleader 60lb-80lb, NEVER tie say 15lb to 18lb or 12lb to 15lb. Lightest would be say flattie fishing 12lb or 15lb to 30lb shokleader with 2-3oz leads is fine as its only a gentle lob thats clean ground but as a rule 15lb 0.35 is very safe with 80lb recommend suffix shockleader. You can belt out 5-7oz leads knowing its safe and nice smooth cast slow in fast out. Hope this helps. Stud.
