| tips on float fishing the summer is near and the fish are coming out so i thought i would make a guide to float fishing. floating is my favorite way of fishing. just watching the float go under is amazing. first up, simples as the merkat would say the olde mackerel strip. this method will catch you mackerel, garfish, pollock, bass, seatrout, scad ect. cut a small thin strip and hook it once. small, barbless hooks are best. a small float with 4-5 split shots work well with a 4ft hook trace. sandeel this bait will catch you bass, mackerel, garfish, pollock whole- hook it through the bottom jaw up through the upper jaw. half (head end)-same as above tail end- just hook it through the top garfish strip will catch garfish and bass small float. squid strips- mackerel, garies and bass small float whole of half- mainly bass although smoothhounds have been known to come up to it aswell. big float live baiting use either live sandeel, pouting, pollock or wrass. will catch bass big float ragworm small hooks and float. will catch you bream, bass and pollock hope this helps you all regards ollie |
