Post Cod baits

Hi all,

I don't know if this will be of interest to any of you, but last night at New Passage we were all using the same bait.

Rag / Squid
Lug / Squid
Whole Squid

I had some peeler but did not use it until near the end of the session, and did not catch on it anyway.

One thing I was doing that maybe the others weren't was on my pennel rigs I always make sure the Lug worms (3) are straight before I hook up the top hook they are circa 7-8 inches long in total, then I either put the slither of squid on the top or bottom hook, and just change it around a bit on each rod.

But the most important thing I do is to nip the head of the lug on the bottom hook, just before I cast out. The reason being the juices flow and create a decent scent trail straight away. The other lug stay intact, but still create a scent trail while the bottom one has been "washed out" and this combined with the squid you should have a decent "smelly" bait in the water.

Just a thought anyway.
