Re: hermit crabs

sorry to go on lads but my motto is ,if a fish is hungry it will eat anything edible it passes , and trying to single out any one bait for any particular fish will cause endless discussion (which is what the forum is about ) i caught a 8lb cod from the shore while living in scotland as a boy, when my dad gutted it we found a golf ball inside !!!!! so next time i went fishing i took a bag of golf balls (not) , lol ,,but you get my drift

Re: hermit crabs

with reference to the hermie the hermit, i have used the with some success, especially if used with ragworm on a 2o pennell( use viking hooks ) long flowing trace, if u get a little nibble just let it go until it turns a solid bite then strike home, i have caugh cod up to 7lb on these little baits, they are also especially deadly if u float fish a live 1 around rocks in search of pollock. had great success up at dunstanburgh castle (craster) with this method.

Re: hermit crabs

i don't know if there are any lobster potters around your way but down here if you ask them nicely to keep you some which you will pay for they will give you thousands prob 4 free. they are a unwanted species to them.

used whole they can be amazing for smoothies on the boat. i use the tails as a tip for worm on the beach. they're a good bait and usually free.

you can buy your own traps now if you can find somewhere that they live.
