| Rigs using Springs Morning all, Too windy for me to venture out this morning so I've been experimenting. One of the many obsessions that Mrs L says I have is a marked reluctance to throw away anything that might conceivably "come in handy". My garage is full of stuff! Todays effort involves re-using the springs from retractable ballpoint pens. ![]() Dismantling the pen produces a short but relatively strong spring. ![]() I've stretched it to about double it's length in order to reduce the force necessary to compress it. ![]() I've "mocked up" the type of rig where it could be used. It's shown on a bit of spare pole elastic to show up a bit better. It would need to be crimped or stopped with a sliding stop knot outside the beads. I'll give it a try one day unless anyone says it utterly useless. ![]() Sorry about the poor quality of the photos. Back to the drawing board now. Good luck to anyone that ventures out. __________________ Rich "If a thing's worth doing it's worth doing to excess!" |

| Re: Rigs using Springs Excellent mate, exactly the same as an SRT spring Kev we use them on rig bodys just bellow snood swivels, they make it easier to get the snood length right when making clip down rigs and can take some of the pressure off the snood stop knot or crimp during the cast. Some love them ,some dont.i think they are great. __________________ Come on you HULL! |

| Re: Rigs using Springs Great idea ! Saves on buying (and loosing) SRT springs. They are useful when OTG casting as they help keep the rig clipped down as you cast. __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps !
