| Hi, just another thing, what exactly is a trace? and a snood? I went out today and checked my rod and it has a casting weight of 100-200grams, which is about 3-7oz i think. Its a 12ft telescopic and it is very solid. My reel is a fixed spool reel and it is ok quality, its mainly plastic but feels very solid, it has 1 ball bearing and has a ratio of 5.1.1. So can anyone recommend a final setup for this rod and reel. Eg, mono line strength, shockleader strength and lead weight? I will be doing shore fishing straight off the beach - no rocks or peirs or anything. Also what type of lead is the best, there loads of different grip leads from what i have seen? And lastly baits, i have been using worms, maggots and other coarse baits for the last 2 years. Will these work for sea fishing or will i have to use squid, mackerel and sand eel etc. Thanks for all the help |

![]() i think the key for this chap is keep it simple! floating tackle, easily just bunged in a jiffy bag, also just a simple running ledger set up, and maybe a dexter lure! i imagine the rod is the average telescopic all rounder, maybe about 2,5lb tc, so if this is the cast id go for a 2oz grip lead! (should give you a bit of distance!! maybe if you find a harbour or marina, you could bait up a float with bread flake and ground bait with bread mash! for a mullet! that would be pretty familiar for you with a course fishing background! you will already have the lead shot and floats! or bait up with a slim strip of mackrel belly for a gar! __________________ SCUPPER A COMMERCIAL TOOOO DAY! |
