| Still remember a book that someone gave me when I was a kid. It was about 40 years out of date & I was trying to teach myself about fishing from it. It kept on about paternoster rigs, Fishskin lures, silk lines, Nottingham reels, & Greenheart rods & stuff. Got some real funny looks in the local tackle shop when I asked where I could get these things, & I was trying to sound like I knew what I was talking about. There was a picture of a fish in it called a Lumpsucker. It really caught my imagination & i became quite obsessed about catching one. Still not caught one, or even seen one in the flesh. (Has anybody?) Some of the coarse baits mentioned were quite interesting. Silk weed, Gentles, wax worms & Tallow to name but a few. Real fishing with Mr Crabtree stuff. Right got to go now. Just off to send a telegram to Veals, to order a new built cane beachcaster.... |
