Down this way mate you can fish for them on a float rig set up using size 2 hooks and rag as bait.

Kiwi.

i bump a ragworm bait slowly along the bottom. with the rig being just a ball weight and trace with size 2-6 hook. gets good results down here!

Re: What Rig For black bream

Well a three hook pat rig

Spaced about 12 inches apart

Snoods about 6 inches long with size 8 or 10 hooks with say four 5mm beads and tipped with squid

This is was shown to me and used and is tops for the solent bream

Re: What Rig For black bream

up here the rig richard describes would be spot on. the boat would be on the drift over a reef and so we drop the rig down to the bottom then retrieve a few turns so that the lead is just 'skitting' the top of the reef. Bait is lugworm usually. rag tipped with squid can work.
A mesh onion sack is slung over the side filled with crushed fish and old bait - this attracts the shoaling bream into the area. Slack water and half hour either side works well - once the tide really starts to run the shoals dispurse.
