Can anyone tell me the correct way to present a frozen peeler crab, and what size hook would be best to use Thanks

Re: Frozen Peeler Crab

Hook size and pattern will depend on what fish your targeting. Good frozen peelers will have already had the legs and claws and lungs removed and wrapped individually. keep them in a small thermos flask in your tackle box ,pull them out one at a time 10 mins before baiting up, cut 3/4 way thru to release juices and mount on to the hook with bait elastic.

If your buying whole frozen crabs with the lungs in beware, the lungs decompose and putrify very quickly on defrosting, ruining your bait.

Re: Frozen Peeler Crab

Phil, if you're after the smutts then i would use half a decent sized peeler on a 3/0 wide gaped hook ..
prepare as Mike says and always keep them on ice packs or the likes until you're ready to bait up ..
whip on with plenty bait elastic and then add a couple of legs to the hook point if you have them from a whole crab ..
