| the long and low Having tried this rig over the last couple of months i have come to the conclusion that i just don't like it ![]() On too many occassions the bait was coming back still in the clip so i therefore spent 25 minutes sat there for no reason other than letting smaller fish chew at a sandeel suspended off the bottom ![]() Because there is no tensioning spring i also found that sometimes the bait would come out the clip midflight ( now that REALLY gets on my wick ) ! the principles behind it are right as it does in theory mean a bait hard on the bottom a good 6 to 8 foot from your lead IFit releases , IF there is sufficient tide to take it out the clip and away from the lead ![]() I used to make an up and over rig but never really field tested that much but the other day made some drawings and have come up with two seperate rigs that i think are better than the long and low ( not my invention i have to say - but my take on these rigs ) The up and over but using Gemini SRT clips ( recently bought and using as we speak ) plus a rig that involves clipping up a long snood with a cascade swivel, that simply slides down the rig body . Both will incorporate SRT springs and impact shields - something i feel is missing from the long and low .. The first rig will have a snood length of around 8 foot but will mean the 'kink' at halfway as it sits over the clip .. The second will have a snood length of around 5 foot but should be almost failsafe when it comes to release ... diagrams - rig components to follow as i make them / test them .. __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
