Re: scratching rig?

Never really use them to be honest. My usual rig is a pulley pennel with 3/0 hooks or a pulley rig with a smaller hook with beads on for the flatties.
Thats all I ever us. I do have a couple of two hook clip up and down rigs but I rarely ever use them.I find that I cant cast half a far with them and also I find that the multi slightly overuns with them as they slow down really quickly with the extra drag.

Re: scratching rig?

I dragged a rig in the other day and it looked like it fell off a Christmas tree.
Ive never seen such a thing, over engineered or what, springs, clips, swivels you name it ..it was on it.
Didnt catch much though did it after the snap off.!!!

Keep your rigs simple and most importantly----steamlined----

Re: scratching rig?

yeh I do for the flatties, about 4 yellow and 4 orange, if I got to cast to the horizon I use the same amount but use the small beads.

Re: scratching rig?

at this time of year when the fish are on holiday i tend to use either a flattie clip down with a few beads and size 1/0 hooks or a two hook clip down with size 2/0 hooks ,both these rigs will catch whats around the devon waters at this time ie flounder, plaice and whiting ..

Re: scratching rig?

3 hook flapper is great if you dont need any distance, but my favourite at the moment is the portsmouth loop its basicly a one up one down rig that clips down nice and streamline with the use of springs and cascade swivels,i think pixybasher would call it a christmas tree lol.
Cracking rig Ben give it a go.

Re: scratching rig?

For mainly all my 2-hook rigs il use a portsmouth loop, as it keep 2 baits close to the lead for less resistance.

If i use a 3-hook then i will use cascade swivels.

This time of year if you need maximum distance then il only use a 1-hook.
