Re: scratching rig? Good tip. I find pop ups very effective for pout due to extra movement. __________________ http://www.cdfc.co.uk

Re: scratching rig? for scratching i would use a 3 hook flapper with longer snoods if theres current and shorter snoods if theres not. i would never go bigger than size 2 hooks, prob more likely size 4 or 6's. and only fish small baits (munches of whites or maddies, or small pieces of crab.)

I favour the 3 hook flapper rig too, fished 2up & 1 down. Floating beads on the up snoods (10'' long) & beads + sequins on the down. Usually varivas size 2 hooks.

Re: scratching rig? if it's really scratchy a medium length 3 hook flapper 8lb or maybe less snood, size 6 aberdeen hook. and with metal booms sometimes. for trying to cover as much ground as possible then a long (10- 12 foot) 3 hook flapper with the light snood. using a light lead so it slowly moves with the tide. this way you can cover quite a bit of distance. as for beads i used to use the glow in the dark beads alot. now i sometimes use the small glow beads in summer for general fishing and the large glow beads for pollock and scad. not really so fussed about them now really.
