Grip lead advice Can anyone advise if you can still get grip leads with the little arm that keeps your bait steady when casting? There seems to be glut of the type without the arm but have to say i prefer the type with the arm as i seem to get more fouls with the former. __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

If you want something cheaper then look for long tailed breakaways and buy some paul kerry bait clips which can be attached to the tail .. personally i can't find my way to trusting the release on any of these leads and still only use impact shields above a lead.. ![]() with regard to the 'fouls' what rigs are you using ? .. The purpose behind 'clipping' down a bait is to increase distance and not to prevent tangles so unsure as to your dilemma with casting .. __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Grip lead advice I make do with beach leads for most of our shallow beaches like these ..... ![]() And if you don't think there are any advantages to using them; think again! Ian Golds showed me them about 15 years ago. The short 1/2" right angled wires allow the bait to be moved without the wires snapping out. No rollers or beads in the wires' grooves, as these defeat the object of the wires and will often break the leads out when you don't want them to. For deeper water and stronger tides (Hurst? Dover), make sure you have some fixed grips. I rarely use non-grippers, as breakouts lead to positive hook-ups! here's a few others I use frequently, depending on conditions ...... ![]()
