Sea Fishing Booms

Sea Fishing Booms
So what are sea fishing booms – Basically they fall in to two categories

Boat Boom – for fixing leads to your line
There are many different types of boat booms on the market and each has been designed for the job in hand

These types of fishing booms are used to fix your lead weight to your line , they protect your fishing line and allow the line to move freely through the boom ( meaning when a fish strikes it only feels the line weight and not the lead )

It is always advisable to use a bead to protect your knot

Some of the running lead booms on the market
(will add more once my scanner wants to play again)

Booms stand off
These are used to attatch hook lengths to your mainline . They are designed to help reduces the hook length tangling with your mainline

Wrecking booms are upto 18 inches long and they are made to last and take heavy fish . Perfect for shads and jellyworms as the boom keeps clear of the mainline

Standard swivel booms
Used for flyers ect are short plastic booms and are good all rounders

So have any questions or top tips when using or selecting fishing booms - post below

Re: Sea Fishing Booms

fair enough, i guess different beaches you need to get different distances, from my experience on boats they are very good, the only problem i had with them is that they dont allow the line to trwist, need to fit a swivel on the end to stop the line twisting off

Re: Sea Fishing Booms

do you have the problem with them twisting offf where the fish spins in the current, i was having this problem alot at eastborne, all the whiting were spinning in the tide as i brought them up and it was twisting off the line, and if i used swivels n not booms it got tangled:S
