Rigs for the shore, clipped down rigs.

I would like to share with you some great clipped down rigs for the shore. These rigs you can tie yourself, i did many years ago and have enjoyed many sessions catching many species including cod, doggies, ray, bass, conger, plaice, huss etc. I have 5 to share with you and they are superb rigs that seem to catch alot of fish if you go on the right night have the right bait etc etc, but its only the rigs themselves i will be concentrating on. Please join in with your ideas too and shore rigs that work for you. I will start 2day with my 1st top rig/ 3 hook wishbone/ catch anything on this one / one of my favourites. Its a 2 hook wishbone as standard but you tie on a 3rd snood now this is v important/ under the impact shield 18inches long/crimp/ bead snood swivel next/bead/crimp, now once you have wishbone on trace body and thats all tied up nicely you bring bottom snood thats the one under impact shield all the way up trace body and clip on just under casting swivel with whatever you choose to hold hook and bait in place/ clip, etc. It is a very good rig and i have caught a lot on it. Tight lines.

Re: Rigs for the shore, clipped down rigs.

This next rig was given to me by english world champion steve allmark many moons ago and must say it is probably the best clipped down rig ever made without question for many clean ground shore caught species/ray,dogs,bass infact list to long it will catch anything. Like any rig you need some movement in the water to make both rigs work. It is called the 3 hook millenium rig. Top 2 snoods are easy enough, basic 60-80lb trace body about 4 foot long, attach weight clip on bottom of trace body 1st,then crimp/bead/bottom snood swivel/bead/crimp dont tighten just yet/ then impact shield right down all the way tight to bottom snood /crimp bead. Now the tricky bit bottom snood tie on 15lb snood or 20lb about 18inches long and cut, now get 1 cascade swivel clip and tie that on the cut end/ tie on only 6inches of snood and tie on hook 2s 1s 1/0s up to you/ now thats the bottom trace complete. Middle snood easy enough, tie on 16-18 inch snood on to 1 cascade swivel clip and tie on hook, put bait stop on if you want, now/crimp bead put snood on trace/bead/crimp/ last snood, same but instead of cascade just put on a small but strong swivel. Put on a strong casting swivel on tighten everything up. Remember to have your cascade swivels facing the right way up to hold the hook. Tight lines to you all. If you dont have impact shields use breakaway leads with the clip on the shield. Bottom snood should have a loop. Superb rig-tie it give it ago.

Hi mate, the best way is if you know someone who ties rigs to show you as they would be a bit tricky to tie yourself as your sort of newish to the idea and you could copy it. I dont have the tools to draw it but believe you me if i could i would. If anyone on site knows rig could draw it out much appriciated. Once you tie one the rest are easy, like riding a bike.

Re: Rigs for the shore, clipped down rigs.

Teabagno1, this is a start rig for you and others and it is easy to tie. If you do have time write down other rigs or print them out for future ref. The rig is called a one hook bomber or one hook clipped down rig. Get some 60-80lb mono i use suffix and cut a 3 foot piece for your trace body/tie on a lead clip on one end/then put an impact shield on other through other end and push it right down trace body till it is tight to lead clip/on top of impact shield go bead/crimp and for now just let that rest on top of impact shield/now tie yourself 1 snood say 18-24" long tie on a small but strong swivel one end and a hook the other end say a size 1 kamazan/go back to your trace and go/crimp/bead/then your snood then/bead/crimp. Tie on a casting swivel to the end of your trace. Now go down to impact shield with a set of crimp pliers and put bead against shield and gently tighten crimp/ go to your snood put hook in shield bring snood up trace body and when it feels tight tighten bottom crimp/ then top one. Sorry guys small beads on all traces and please make sure casting swivel is the best quality and i would suggest berkly or a good brand. If you have breakaway lead/clip into lead clip instead of impact shield. This page aint going to be here long so write or print them down. Tomorrow/ the 2 hook wishbone and the correct way to tie them. Tight lines

Re: Rigs for the shore, clipped down rigs.

77 views and only one reply, my god im popular. No worries but guys and girls these are top match and i mean top match rigs bar 1 hook bomber which is just standard but will catch, so write them down as if your out fishing and your not catching dont blame me. Good bait also helps, put the two of them together on the right day or night, well fish them and then you will see how good they are. The 3 hook millenium is the best by far and is used in the world shore champs. You can buy all stuff to make rigs in any tackle shop, they will get easy to tie after a few times. Good luck. These are not for rough ground fishing, cost you a fortune on lost tackle diff set up. Get tying and catch some fish.
