| Re: Rig suggestions for Sole Id say a three hook flapper thats not to long works the best. Add a few beads and bait stop n your away. I fish in the thames for them and use size 4 kamasans and they haven`t let me down yet. Oh make sure you got a baiting needle with you tho my friend as trying to put a fat lug on a size 4 can be quite challenging Tight lines ![]() Joe __________________ Sea 2012- 5brd rockling, whiting, LS Dogfish,Bass,Eel,Flounder F/W 2012- Catfish(16.5lb), Carp,Tench LITTER IS JUST LAZINESS!! |

| Re: Rig suggestions for Sole cat??? to awnser the original post- i don't catch many but i'd echo whats been said above - small hooks , i think the type of rig matters little but short or weighted(split shot) snoods to keep bait hard on the sea bed. the jurys out as far as beads n sequins go as far as i'm concerned. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: Rig suggestions for Sole I've also used split shot on my snoods whenever I've fished for Sole, but must admit I've wondered exactly how effective this is. The shot only provides a really, REALLY small amount of weight, which might be fine when you're fishing a still water, but when you start introducing wave action and tides etc. does it really make that much difference? Like I say, I use it anyway (It can't hurt) but have wondered. A mate picked up a Sole rig on the IOW that had a small (Very small) ball weight trapped at the top of the rig as well as the usual main sinker at the bottom. I've tried this in the past, but found it didn't cast very well. Maybe I had too much weight at the top??? __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check.
