Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel rigs?

Out here we have two fish running at nearly all times of year, from March to November. Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel always biting. I have seen them from "Gotcha Plugs..." but never from normal bait rigs. Well, except bluefish. Does anyone know any pier-fishing rigs with which to catch these? I know there are bluefish rigs with a fixed sinker and 2 floaters with hooks attached at the end of the floaters, but that's just not me. I like to be able to FEEL the bite.

I've developed after a bit of research a rig to fish for them both, but I am not sure if it will work, I haven't enough money to go test it for the weekend. Cursed trailer-trash life. Umm, I wish I had a diagram. Here's a description.

Slide a 1/4-1/2 oz. egg sinker onto your line, then slide a barrel swivel on[bswivel A], so that it can slide up and down the line. Add a bead to this and then tie off on another barrel swivel[bswivel B] and leave about 3-6 inches of line excess on the knot. Slide the bead down to the knot and slide the excess line through. Tie off the excess tightly there so that it traps the bead. Add a 1-2 ft length of 10-20lb test line to the end of bswivel B and tie off, repeating the method to secure the beads. Add a second egg sinker, depending on the current strength. I use a 2oz. sinker for the Carolina surf. Then add another bead, tying off to a barrel swivel. This is so that you can add a second hook if you want, by adding a leader. Now to Bswival A, add about 4 inches of braided steel leader, crimping it off and adding yet another barrel swivel to it. Then tie normal leader or crimp another steel leader to that swivel. The leader should be 1-2 feet long. To the end, crimp or tie a circle hook of size 3-3/O.

The idea to the rig was that I could attach a live mullet by the bottom of it's tail to the rig, cast out, and the mullet would be "slow trolled" to the bottom, much like a sliding fish-finder rig. Or it could stay at topwater or near-top if you use a mullet bigger than your finger.

Other notable modifications I thought of:

Add a float to the first steel leader?
Use a snap instead of swivel at the end of the first leader so that you can make steel leaders and just clip them on when ready?
Attach a bank or pyramid sinker instead of the larger slip sinker?

Does anyone think that would work? If not, any changes to make to make it work? Or any suggested rigs? I like making my own rigs, not using the store-bought ones.
