Re: Swivels for Sea Fishing I use stainless steel catfish swivels...... well thats what they are sold as..... supposed to be good for 200lb, not that I am likely to catch anything that big, but, atleast I know they wont let go. !! __________________ I dont catch em I feed em

Re: Swivels for Sea Fishing I use QF QuickChange Connectors for the top of the rig (so that i can swap rigs easily) also size 8-10 swivels for snood lengths (sometimes i slide a piece of tubing over this to keep the hook snoods clear of the main rig body. __________________ South Wales Angling Guide - Shore Angling in South Wales

Re: Swivels for Sea Fishing Hey Charlotte I would recommend getting a selection of small rolling swivels either size 8 or 10. These will be useful for loadsa things as you go along but mostly used for attaching hooklengths (also known as snoods). It is important that you read the back of the packet and check that the breaking strain is high enough to withstand rocks and weed and hoefully big fish! A breaking strain of 45lb is the norm and is usually more than sufficient for general shore fishing. For the main rig body you need something a little stronger. American snap swivels are ok but again ensure the breaking strain is a bit stronger because it has to cope with the strain endured on the end tackle during casting. A b.s of 80-100lb is advisory - if you cant find any this strong look at the stainless steel type - they are always stronger! - hence why chaosin devon likes the catfish ones!!!! lol There are plenty of different links and swivels and clips that you will see in a good tackle shop. If you buy Sea Angler magazine you will find small tutorials and stuff which will show you how to use most of these things or you can buy a few good ready-made rigs and you will soon see how everything works together! Hope this helps John. __________________ South Wales Angling Guide - Shore Angling in South Wales

Re: Swivels for Sea Fishing In his posting Ben mentions rolling swivels as well as barrel swivels. Is it possible to have a drawing of the former. Also what is the difference. Thanks Fred __________________ The world is my oyster but I'd rather catch a fish.
