any multiple hook rig i use is clipped down using a bait shield and cascade swivels, just have to put bait stops on every hook snood.

don't know why i clip down and not up, just a confidence thing i guess.

if you cast realy hard wont the weight of the bait cause the clip to slid down the line? ive never seen one like this before.

If you clip up instead of down you defeat the object of clipping the rig to some exstent.
The bait still gets forced down over the hook during the cast and on impact, and is liable to come unclipped.
If i have to leed the snood up away from the lead i use an up and over bringing the bait back to the lead, getting your baits clipped down near the lead makes the whole thing more streamline and less damaging to the bait.
Just my opinion like

i have used multiple hook rigs both clipped up and down and have not found any real problems with ether.i think it is a personal thing which gives you the most confidence. i now though use only clipped down rigs purely because of the aerodynamic factor, when casting long distance the first hook is clipped tight behind the lead and therefor must create less drag and especally if using a bomber style rig were two hooks are now tight behind the lead.

clip up rigs are just as good, if the clip is sliding put a stopper there, the force of the weight slowing down when it hits the what should release the the 2 clipped hooks, only time they stay clipped when they hit the water, is if not made correct. up or down shouldnt make a diff.
