Long Range sea fishing rig

good rig but usually the impact/breakaway shield is otherway up is it not

Does anyone else find that the hook doesn't always release from the impact shield? I've had this happen on a few occasions.

Oops have changed it , thanks mate - always a problem with talking on the phone and doing stuff on computers I just cannot multi task

No, not so far, it's the only thing I've found so far that seems to have released every time. Do you have the bead above it tight enough to the top? I think it needs to be quite tight to ensure it pushes the hook out at impact.

I think so. Thought it may just be that I put too much of the hook in.

Agree with J Boy the bead must be tight up against the top of the bait shield, with other rigs it can be prone to not releasing, but again this is down to not having the right tension in your hook snoods.

Always check the tension before either slipping the stop knot up snug, or "crimping" beads in place. Lack of tension or too much is a common fault.

i think when i have used them its just down to a fault in making them, and also its sods law that i always loss that rig cause its got more expencive stuff on it
