Pulley Rigs - Sea Fishing Rigs

Pulley Rigs - Sea Fishing Rigs

Pulley rigs are great for rough ground fishing as when a fish is hooked the wieght of the fish pulls the lead free of the rough ground when reeling in

The Pulley idea

There are many different lengths and little tips when using pulley rigs so if any members would like to post them please feel free to do so

Cool Re: Pulley Rigs - Sea Fishing Rigs

I use nothing else but on roughish ground in the Bristol Channel.

I always use a bait shield with this rig, for distance casting and protection of delicate baits such as Lug.

and if your main line is say 25 lb how long do you have the rig body ?where exatly does the main line finish and the terminal rig start
and is the rig body also the shock leader ........are bloody hell I'm confused now

is there a nice clear diagram to show this ?

No - The bead is to stop the hook going through the swivel . When the fish takes the hook bait and you stike / lift in to the fish , then the weight off the fish pulls the lead up to the swivel , thus helping it to stay away from rocks and snags

It does bepend but I personnally would go for 30 inches from bead to hook and the same lenght bead to lead

where exatly does the main line finish and the terminal rig start
Then mainline is attatched to the swivel and the rig consitsts of the hook/bead and lead . In the picture below you would attatch your mainline to the top of the swivel

NO a shock leader it attatched to your mainline , you then attatch what ever rig to the shockleader
reel >> mainline >> shockleader >> rig

Not at the moment but once the old cam gets working then will be doing lots of pic step by step posts

Hope this makes some kind of sense as one does not start thinking till 12 pm normally

HI GUYS BEST BET HAVE A LOOK ON THE GEMINI SITE THIS GIVES YOU LIST OF COMPONENTS, LINE SIZE, HOOK SIZE ETC. DIMENSIONS ARE OPEN TO VARIATION TO SUIT YOURSELF. BUT ONE GOOD IDEA WHICH I USE ALOT IS TO HAVE THE SNOOD WITH A RIG CLIP ON OR SWIVEL WHICH EVER YOU CAN THEN SWOP THE SNOODS OVER FOR QUICK RE-BAITING OR CHANGE OF HOOK SIZE/PATTERN. ITS WELL WORTH A LOOK AT AS THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER RIGS ON THE SITE TO USE. ALL WITH COMPREHENSIVE DETAILS ON HOW TO MAKE YOURSELF.

Cool Re: Pulley Rigs - Sea Fishing Rigs

Hi Derby,

Length of shock leader should be length of rod + 3 feet + 10 turns on the reel handle.

This should work out at 2.5 times rod length or thereabouts.

Hope this helps.
