The Pulley idea

There are many different lengths and little tips when using pulley rigs so if any members would like to post them please feel free to do so
looks like someones forgot a swivel in the piccy, there needs to be one between the bead and the hook as when the line is tensioned against the weight after casting the hook will pull upagainst the swivel shown giveing a snood length of zero.

Don't the hook and the weight stand a good chance fo getting tangled round each other every cast? how do you tackle this?

Re: Pulley Rigs - Sea Fishing Rigs

i have never had a problem, thats what the swivels are for
they sometimes tanlge befor you clip them down but you just have to let them spin away till they stop

gj.
The line goes through the swivel not tied to it. so it "pivots"...

Re: Pulley Rigs - Sea Fishing Rigs

i would tie a medium sized swivel to the hook side of the main swivel and use at least 80lb line between the lead link and that medium sized swivel ( so the main swivel is in between the medium swivel and lead link. then use at least 25lb hook snood.

when the pulley rig is cast with any power it puts a great deal of stress on the line that is folded back on its self (the stronger line) and if the material is not strong enough it will part. this could result in a terrible accident.

hope i haven't confused anyone now.

Re: Pulley Rigs - Sea Fishing Rigs

big guy,
yep, i think we're describeing the same thing

also as both the snood and the rig body take the strain of the cast fine wire hooks will straighten if clipped down , no danger, but you wont catch owt with a straight hook .

geejayy.

Nice one, I will try that pulley rig at watermouth, I do nothing but lose all my tackle down there as the bottom is very rough indeed. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the Idea it might just help this Carp fisherman turn to the sea keep some more tackle in my box.

if you're fishing rough ground then i would advice you using a rotten bottom system. i personally preffer the breakaway or tonys tackle(sea match) weak links. this way you haven't got to buy/ make the traditional 2 eyed lead or foam pins.

this way you only lose your lead. you can use other things such as 2 spark plugs, nuts, drilled stones, etc to cut down on costs further.
