Help with Bimini Twist leader knot

Hi guys

Can anyone put some info on how to tie a bimini twist leader knot. I have tied one before but have forgotten exactly how it all goes so would appreciate some guidance. Is this the best knot to use or is there a more user friendly one as at the mo i use a uni knot but find this not to be very strong when i need to pull out of a snag or tow in a large mass of weed/tackle.

Thanks all

Joe

Re: Help with Bimini Twist leader knot

I used to have to tie a Bimini double leader in 30 secs when I worked as a 'deckie' in B'da; but I can see little use for it for beach fishing.

Perhaps the only anglers who have convinced me of its use in a leader knot are those who fish into the rocks all the time and would rather bend a hook open than ping the leader or trace.

I've gone 30 years since being back in the UK and cannot remember the leader knot going more than 1/2 dozen times.

Use the granny in the thick line and a 5 turn Grinner in the main line or do as I do and use a Grinner to Grinner in a tapered 18 - 70 lbs leader.

Why make fishun' more difficult than it is already?????

Re: Help with Bimini Twist leader knot

Here is a website that has instructions on many popular fishing knots.

http://www.thaifishingguide.com/fish...ist_steps.html

I find the Bimini twist somewhat hard to tie if I don't do it frequently and often revert to what we call the "modified Bimini twist" that has not failed and offers the same shock leader qualities.

You create a loop with the tag end laying back against the fishing line, then form a round circle in the two strands near the tag end and pass the loop end through it approx 7 times. Wet the line, draw it tight and trim the tag line.

Hope this helps.
