Attaching rigs etc to shockleader May seem a silly question but here goes - what do I use to attach rigs, lures etc. to shock leader. Do I tie them on every time or use swivels, or split rings. What do you recommend is the best approach. I'm new to sea fishing and have been tying my rigs swivels tied to the shockleader then cutting them off once I'm finished and packing away. I did try using a gemini link clip - I had tied to the leader line but for some reason the rig came off during casting and was lost. Also, how often should I replace the leader line ? Thanks in advance Skafloc

Re: Attaching rigs etc to shockleader I normally tie a Gemini link clip to the leader line and then put the top swivel of the rig onto that. Never had a problem with lost rigs cause of the link clip. Beware the cheap link clip though. Have been known to open up, but the proper Gemini one's are fine. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait?

Re: Attaching rigs etc to shockleader just like the baggie one i use either a gemini link or a snap swivel to connect to the swivel at the top of a rig . but if i'm short of them i'll tie directly to the swivel which is just as good but a link makes rig changes easier , especially for double patting. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.

Re: Attaching rigs etc to shockleader Thanks guys - think I better check my gemini links and try and get some new ones and learn to tie proper knots too

| Re: Attaching rigs etc to shockleader Yep - a gemini clip every time, so easy to clip rigs on and off, if you do tie directly to the leader, you have to cut a bit off each time and soon need to replace it cos its too short ! Make sure you use genuine Gemini and none of the cheap copies on fleabay as they are weak and not strong enough ! __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps !
