Re: Fishing Rigs - Making you own Fishing Rigs I'm the same as DownSouth, don't get enough time to fish let alone make the rigs although I occasionally do if I'm stuck home with the kids or away in a hotel room on my own. My biggest problem is that I buy ready mades "as a pattern" but then end up running out of rigs and using the pattern instead. Must get more pulleys to replace those lost on the Great Brixham Reef the other week too. By the way, can someone post a good step by step for a rotten bottom rig please?

Re: Fishing Rigs - Making you own Fishing Rigs I tie All my own rigs, and being a matchman myself i've got 8 (yes 8) rig wallets jammed with rigs for every species, every venue, in fact, every occasion or instance I may come up against in a match... and oh, one other thing... I NEVER EVER use crimps, ALWAYS stop knots, I can't think of a better way to turn 80lb. line (rig body) into 40lb.!!!! In my opinion, crimps should be made illegal and banned from production. When i'm swinging into a full blooded pendulum, I need to know in my mind that everything will be as safe as houses, you can't tell me that you know for sure that that line will not part at the crimp... I say "element of doubt - throw it out!"

Re: Fishing Rigs - Making you own Fishing Rigs fair point - while we are on the subject i have grown to not trust american snap links. the wire is often too weak when using a 6oz lead and heavy casting and i have had 3 of these sprinbg open releasing the lead - luckily without casualty. i now stick to gemini or in some cases berkley when buying links and clips.

Re: Fishing Rigs - Making you own Fishing Rigs JP, that's the company for sure. You'll be impressed with the quality of the rigs they supply, and their customer service. Top rate. You don't even pay for the rigs upfront, send them a cheque once they have arrived! Now that has to be a first. They will always make a rig to your spec too, just send a diagram and dimensions and it's done. __________________ Back to the fizzy pop league for another season

Re: Fishing Rigs - Making you own Fishing Rigs I totally understand and all sides of the discussion (as we don't argue on this furum). I really enjoy making my rigs up and getting them just right for how I wanna fish - But I don't have as much time to make them as I'd like. I on the other hand (unlike downsouth) would rather spend my spare time making rigs than with my miserable wife and screaming child. __________________ ><((((((*> ><((((((*> ><((((((*> trailer cleaning
