Wishbone Rigs Hi all. Just wondered if someone can tell me the best way of constructing a wishbone rig. For years I have been making the wishbone part by tying a loop out of my snood and then cutting it in the middle but i tend to find that this seems to break all the time and i end up with one hook! Am i doing this wrong? Its the same loop i use on my shockleader to attatch my rigs with. I double the line up and then create a loop and then pass the loop through it self twice and pull tight if that makes any sence to anyone. Also i have problems getting them to exact lenghts which creates a pain when trying to get them to stay under my bait shield!! Any help much appreciated Tight Lines Joe ![]() __________________ If its worth catching i`ll want one!

| Re: Wishbone Rigs Sounds like you are putting a knot on the line which makes it a weak point and would snap. Best way to do it and to prevent any problems about hook lengths is to have the line free running through a swivel with 2 beads to stop the hooks going through the swivel if that makes sense .... Will try to find a photo to show you what I mean .... Try this - the line is self equalling so does not matter if you need to put a fresh hook on and if you get a fish - it pulls the line through and stops on the bead - make sure you knots on the hooks are good !!! (Instead of the crimp on the top trace swivel on the rig body - use a stop knot to allow for adjustment) ![]() __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps ! | Re: Wishbone Rigs Welcome mate .... Re bait stops - I use bait stops all the time and sometimes attractor beads & sequins etc and it makes no difference to the snood - leave it free running - it wont matter if one side is slightly heavier than the other - the fish wont care !! Good luck ... __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps ! PLEASE REMEMBER & GIVE A LITTLE .... http://www.poppy.org.uk/ |

Re: Wishbone Rigs the last one tied , after suffering simaler problems + lots of tangles due to snood line being too light, i found successful, though pretty much like 'maghouse's.- it was inspired by gremlin ie- it was a slide down version. as per maghouse's piccy but omit the bead and crimp that stops the rig body's running swivel so it drops as far as the weight after casting. and substitute a gemini bait holder link (upside down) for the 80 lb swivel at the top . tension snood for casting via impact sheild and dropping eye snood eye of the rig body's running swivel over the gemini's bait holder. i've fished it 2x session and it hasn't failed to release yet. __________________ 2008, sessions..14,total blanks..1, species,..11, http://ukfishingforums.darkbb.com/index.htm

Re: Wishbone Rigs That is a good rig to use, guarentees the hooks are hard on the bottom ! __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps ! PLEASE REMEMBER & GIVE A LITTLE .... http://www.poppy.org.uk/

Anyone developed a crab proof version yet? I was fishing a Wishbone rig at Chesil last weekend & the Spider Crabs claimed at least 30 hooks. Problem is, if they bite off one hook, you loose the other one too. I can hear em now. Eh up lads, here comes another Ragworm Kebab.... ![]()
