Re: Wishbone Dilemma nightmare! of course im goin to have to arrange a sneaky week session to test this rig. let me think - go visit girlfriend all the way up in cardiff or pop down the estuary and see whats happening...hmmm cardiff is an awful long way to go and i feel that for the scientific purposes of reaearch an angling trip would be far more suitable!

Re: Wishbone Dilemma yeah, we need to test our master peice, i think a rig with and a rig withough the booms on it to see which catches most fish and see how much of a difference the booms make, im thinking it might spook the fish __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: Wishbone Dilemma yeahyeahyeah im just putting the finishing touches to the boomless version i think this rig might be quite useful, having been told where the worms where yesterday i now need to cast quite along way __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: Wishbone Dilemma its finished, i decided against using booms though for 2 main reasons, 1 i didnt have any and 2 i think it would take the natural movement away from the bait it did tka em about an hr getting it all the right size so it clips down properly and making sure the spring tube part wont fall apart on impact, knowing my luck i will loss it on my 1st cast __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: Wishbone Dilemma a friend of mine uses wire booms and im sure they help him! he always catches more than me. but on saying that he casts further than me __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: Wishbone Dilemma booms do alter the way the bait is presented BUT it doesnt actually affect catch rates in a bad way infact as u have said it can help catch when boomless rigs blank~! a boom will ensure that the snood is pinned to the seabed so for bottom feeding fish it is a bonus!

I am no expert on sea fishing rigs...but looking at the pictures posted would it not be possible to alter the tension in the wishbone by inserting piano wire of different gauges inside the tubing. This is available quite cheaply and would allow you to adjust the spring to suit each days fishing. The stuff I had in mind is available at model shops and is used for undercarriages on model aircraft etc. It also may be worth having a look in a tackle shop that specialises in carp fishing gear...the number of different types of rig tubing they stock is unbelievable! And another quick thought...how about attaching the hooks behind the shield with a loop of pva string held in place by the spring tension...ok with wet baits it would have to be a quick cast...but it would be a guaranteed release! Send pint to..... Dave

Re: Wishbone Dilemma im not sure if the piano wire would spring bk into position, anyway the spring seems to do the job well enough __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's
