Re: whiting rigs

I use whatever rig i find first as we get so many down my way they just become a pain in the butt.....and take baits from top middle or bottom so makes no diference how i fish.....reminds me of a match i won where thay didnt have a limit on how many you could weigh in....lol lost count after about 40 and the gezza next to me had about half the amount as i was last peg and was belting it as far up tide as poss to pic em up!! lol think i was using a two hook patern then!! oh yer size two hooks and lug or mack strip is the ticket down my way!!!

Re: whiting rigs

As Mackerel is our easy summer fish that tends to go for anything, so is the whiting during winter. There is a spot where I fish where I never fail to find them during the colder months. One thing I have found by using multi hooked rigs, rather than singles, is that they scrap like hell, thus leaving the rig all tangled when you have more than one on.
I must admit though, at the place where I fish for them, they are hitting the bait before the sinker reaches bottom.
As with Mac's, bait for them is cheap....non-stop bites using squid strip.

Re: whiting rigs

two hooked clipped wishbone.... most of the marks i fish for the whiting require a fair cast and i find the wishboned rigs obviously set off a better bait trail coz they fish 8inches apart! lugworm picks up loadsa whiting. mackerel strip on its own picks out the better size - between the dogs!

size 1 long shank viking is my favoured hook coz their small enough for whiting and flats but theres no way a codling or dogfish would bend one out!!
