Lightbulb Feeder

I think it was Lazarus who suggested this.
Anybody please feel free to point out any obvious blunders.
Going to try it at B.Anchor next week.
60lb greased weazel so I won't be putting much oooomphhh into the chuck.

Anybody else used something similar?

Re: Feeder

Good idea but it looks like a recepy for tangles
Also the hook your using is the same size as the feeder,do you think being able to fish a larger bait than your feeder can take outweighs the advantage of the feeder.
I reckon if you turn the hook end into a pennel you will be able to fish a large hook bait doing away with the feeder and the tangles and snagging etc.
Not trying to be negative,honest

Re: Feeder

No problem, thanks for taking the time to have a look & reply. I'm going to put the stinky bits of the mackerel, backbone head etc.. in the feeder.
I will try a pennel on mark 2, & maybe mount a round feeder through the central axis just above the feeder. dont want it moving up & down chaffing the line though. Thinking cap on... must get some brain food... PUB.

Re: Feeder

i have tried this method...this was suggested in one of the sea angler issues, it usually attracts alot of spider crabs. but should attract fish too i would put another hook above the feeder but use either impact sheilds of bait clips...

Re: Feeder

Try an inline feeder rather than one that will spin and cause tangles.
Inline should be self explanatory,it's a feeder with a hole in both ends so you can put the line thro' top and bottom and it should stop the helicopter effect. An advantage of this is that you should be able to use a lighter grip lead as the bait in the feeder should end up weighing an ounce or two.

Re: Feeder

This is how I use feeders, the weight obviously on the bottom and the hook clips onto the IMP above the feeder.

Casts like a flying brick but the idea is not to cast too far anyway dependant on what you are looking for and this method does fly reasonably well.

Works well for me for close in Flounders - had double shots with this set up ! also works on piers and the like - 200 yards on the beach - forget it !

this is more or less the method i've bin trying, i've found that the freshwater feeders just split apart on moderate to long casts and the film case takes more punishment( might be just my casting ).

i cant say weather it improoves things much but i've seen some successes with mashed sandeel for rays.

bare in mind that an extra oz or two of feeder will load the rod more when cast plus the wind resistance may require a slight retune of multiplier reels to prevent birdies.
