Gravesend prom with Chrismc 21-1-12

Well I finaly got out fishing today, had arranged a trip with Chrismc, Zonkers, Littlefish and Dadwood at the Prom at Gravesend.



Having a knackered car and a meet with Chris at 8:30 I was up at 6:30 to get the train. Arrived at Gravesend and found my way to Dolphin angling to collect my bait then it was a short walk down to the prom.. Bait for the day was 2 score of rag and 1 lug although once I opened the rag it was more like 6 score of small ones. Result!!


Got rod set up with a wishbone with a top clipped down snood and size 2 fine wire hooks. Chucked my first cast out and SPLAT I hit the mud bank to the right of me lol. Oops I would like to say it was the wind that blew it off course (bloody wind was stron) but in fact it was just me making an a**e of my first cast. Got it sorted and finally sat back to have a chat with Chris and wait for the rest of the troops at arrive.




Dadwood was the firts to arrive and promptly explained that he could not fish due to his wife being ill but he wanted to put names to faces so popped down to say hi. Really friendly chap and it was nice to meet him and have a talk, then Zonkers and Little fish turned up shortly after, explaining that they had come earlier but they couldnt see a bike (i didnt bother in the end) so had gone to the bait shop just to be told that we were infact the people they had seen earlier lol. They stopped for a while and had a chat about may things (inc rods) but they had decided against setting up a rod and opted for a nice breakfast instead. It was about this time Chris reeled in a 5brd rockling and I was soon to follow this up with one of my own.

Once the tide got up a bit further I had a nice bite that was noticable in the wind and found this plump flounder on my top hook. Clearly liked my bunch of ragworm



Then, again on rag Chris pulled in one a few minutes later



We then fished for a few more hours with each of us getting 1 more flounder each before the wind really picked up and we felt rain in the air and called the trip toa end




It was really good to meet up with some of you guys and put some names to faces. John I hope your wife gets better soon mate. Perhaps another meet can be arranged again soon for us all to have a fish

Chris good luck up the PoW pier tomorrow mate, you should have enough Ragworm to last you for the trip lol

Nice one guys. Used to fish there for codling when I was a kid. Bait in those days was brown shrimp bought on Gravesend market.

Good to meet up with you all and yes we will have to arrange another meet and I might even get the rods out of the car next time

It was really good to meet Joe, Bill, Dick and Chris; always nice to visualise a face when you see a forum members name. It's my old mum whose unwell Joe, sorry if I didn't make it clear.
